EXAMINATION: CAROTID DOPPLER ULTRASOUND FINDINGS: Moderate plaquing seen in the common carotid arteries bilaterally and mild-to-moderate plaquing in the origins of both left and right internal carotid arteries. The peak systolic velocity curves, however, appear to be grossly normal in configuration. The maximal peak systolic velocity measurement of the right internal carotid artery is 61 cm per second seen in the mid portion of the right internal carotid artery. The vertebral artery is open and the right IC:CC ratio is 1.0. On the left side, the maximum peak systolic velocity measurement is 62 cm per second seen distally. The vertebral artery is open and the left IC:CC ratio is 1.0. IMPRESSION: Mild plaquing bilaterally as described in the origins of right and left internal carotid arteries but there is no hemodynamically significant lesion in either left or right internal carotid artery. The numbers are consistent with less than 49% diameter reduction bilaterally. END OF IMPRESSION:
